So yeah, I'd say if you enjoyed the first one, definitely check out some of the later games. in terms of gameplay, later games tend to become more complex and deep the further down the line you go, boasting more weapons, combat styles/stances, additional possible story/questlines and endings. that is mostly because it took me a while to realize how deep those games are and then i got a little scared D:įrom what I can tell, the later games generally continue the trend of the first game of being really underappreciated by mainstream critics in their time, but developing a distinct cult following.

it may have been skipping some content but I couldn't tell. The main menu started up and I was able to do the tutorial. the intro starts up with the vid playing fine but the audio is either playing very slowly or very quickly.

I own 3 and 4 of the series on pc (3 on steam, 4 on gog) but have barely dipped into them yet beyond a cursory glance. As you meet with both sides of the dispute, you can use deception, betrayal, or combat to shape the outcome of the conflict. Hey, i am trying to get way of the samurai to work, I'm not sure what is wrong with it. is there a way to skip dialogue/cutscenes? I'd love to figure out all the endings, but I don't know if I can sit through the beginning encounters that many times. Who else has played this? Are the sequels just as good?

Seems like the combo upgrade system is pretty extensive! I like the push/parry system, and after reading a few tips online, I'm looking forward to trying some of the different weapon types. Amongst them are the inclusion of stance-breaker attacks on. I got ending 5 which I can't imagine is 'TRUE/GOOD END'. The combat system from the original Way of the Samurai are carried over, albeit with some changes. I honestly didn't expect much from this game, but it's weirdly absorbing. Large battles often included barrages of arrows fired by samurai on horseback and fights with swords and lances by foot soldiers. In terms of skills the UC one is better in most ways, they get 4 skill. The entire two days only takes a couple of hours, but every event gives you a ton of options you can choose from, and your ending/outcome depends on your choices. I havent looked at any of the Ultimate Combat Samurai playtesting and havent. You have two days in this small valley town to accomplish. The game just throws you into the world, doesn't force a backstory on your character or anything like that.
